To the Journal editor:

On behalf of the Peura, Koski and Peurakoski families, we would like to publicly express our appreciation and lasting gratitude to UP Health System-Marquette for the exceptional care given to our daughter, Sarah Colleen Peurakoski, who died on Nov. 15.

The entire intensive care unit was caring and compassionate beyond description. The nurses and Dr. Jonathan Bjork on the sixth floor were exceptional.

Her unexpected illness and death have devastated our families. We are overwhelmed by the community support we have received.

Our family is especially indebted to Sarah’s special circle of friends who sustained us throughout this entire time.

Sarah touched so many people beyond our family circle and we will remember forever those who have reached out to us.

Finally, our thanks and appreciation are extended to Jeremy Hansen of Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral Home in whose final care we entrusted Sarah and to the celebration of life participants.

May Sarah’s grace and compassion for others be a lesson to all of us.

Marquette is a special place to live and to raise a family.
