Three questions posed
To the Journal editor:
Yesterday I saw a squirrel get run over by a car. It raisesthree questions..
Pro-Life religion: Pro-life followers believe life begins at conception and accents Bible verses like Psalm 119:13 which state God lovingly “knits us together in our mother’s womb.”
QUESTION: If life is independent from breath or oxygen, is the run-over squirrel still living for an hour, a day, a month while God unravels the knitting and the components return to dust?
Pro-Choice religion: We Pro-Choice followers believe life begins when your start breathing and ends when you stop breathing. We agree that God is wonderfully working in the warm womb knitting us together.
But the Bible also specifies that life does not begin until God provides “breath” into our nostrils. “God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7)
Job 33:4 repeats the same: “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” We believe both Bible texts say life does not begin at conception but when God breathes into our nostrils.
QUESTION: If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade is it not only denying the religion of the 63% of us who are Pro-Choice but also overturning the Bible?
QUESTION: I believe the Scripture texts quoted by Pro-Life and I also believe in Genesis 2:7 and Job 33:4. I believe they compliment one another. How about you?
