Safety and music
To the Journal editor:
I believe for the sake of “Music on Third,” the motor traffic should be stopped during this event.
I noticed this past “Music on Third,” the number of vehicles quickly going up and down the street as people stood in and crossed the street in front of them.
I believe that if barricades were put on Third, at each intersection from Arch to Magnetic streets (or a variation thereof), giving the east/west cross traffic the right-of-way, it would be a much safer environment.
Businesses could put tables and chairs out. I propose we shut down Third Street once a month, for three months, from 5:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m. There is plenty of parking on the side streets and parking lots for any overflow.
Thanks for listening.
