Election report was clear

To the Journal editor:

Michigan’s Senate Oversight committee penned a mighty report titled “The November 2020 Election in Michigan.” Three Republicans (Chairman Ed McBroom) and one Democrat demonstrated integrity and due diligence in their investigations and reporting. Their report received national acclaim as a strong repudiation of claims that the election “was stolen.”

Here the voices of small people (clerks, canvassers, representatives, senators, Secretaries of States, and justices) were slung together with the rock of truth and zipped into the forehead of a Goliath lie.

The report reads:

“We must all remember: extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof”

Regarding unsolicited absentee ballot applications: “…committing voter fraud in this manner undetected is unlikely….”

Regarding Antrim County: “The Committee finds those promoting Antrim County as the prime evidence of a nationwide conspiracy to steal the election and place all other statements and actions they make in a position of zero credibility.”

Regarding tabulator/software integrity: “Most importantly, the paper ballots in the box are available for re-tabulation or recount at any time. Where this was done, no evidence of hacking or attack was ever shown. Nor did any official representative of the losing party call for a hand recount in any precinct so to prove an instance of such.”

“Our clear finding is that citizens should be confident the results represent the true results of the ballots cast by the people of Michigan. The Committee strongly recommends citizens use a critical eye and ear toward those who have pushed demonstrably false theories for their own personal gain.”

Please read the complete report as this issue has already led to many extreme and unprecedented actions being taken by the defeated which may continue if not held accountable.

Why should the public support a forensic audit when Donald Trump could have and did not pursue a full hand recount of Michigan at his own campaign’s expense?
