Why we live here

To the Journal editor:

We are now into spring in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was a very nice winter, not a lot of snow and real cold weather.

So that’s good news plus with Easter on April 4 is the good news of Jesus’s resurrection. A promise of a better life beyond this one in God’s home, heaven, with the bad news not getting any better.

As a believer in Jesus, it’s what I call good news and hope of not all that’s going on in our world. The recent shootings and the COVID still going does not make life very happy for now.

Even with our new president Biden, those in Washington still can’t seem to work together for the good of the people. For me, I don’t watch the news much but try to get out and enjoy the beauty we still have in the U.P. of Michigan.

I just hope they don’t continue to overbuild more places and we lose our forests, the quietness and to be able to have more traffic and people. I’ve been in the places that have many people, many cars, traffic congestion, etc. It’s not what I call quiet living.

As I said before try to slow down and see the beauty of nature and the quiet places to rest your mind. It’s a much more fast-paced world then I was raised up in this year.

Time will tell, but luckily in the U.P. one can still get away and find that quiet place.
