To the Journal editor:

As we all know, the pandemic put the halt on activities last year including the organized Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee, Inc. Annual Spring Clean Up. I have a feeling some people may have gone out on their own last year.

Our target dates this year are April 10 through May 1. This early spring has made me anxious to get outside, but we must remember winter may not be finished with us yet!

Over 40 groups and service clubs have already been assigned to remove litter from public spaces within the city limits while adhering to CDC guidelines. We encourage everyone to rake, repair and tidy up their property. Adding flowers will really brighten up your space.

This annual event would not happen without the enthusiastic support of the city of Marquette and Lutey’s Heritage Motors. Our city continues to win awards and visitors always comment on how clean and beautiful it is. Thank you for your cooperation over the years.

It may seem like a “little thing” to do but it makes a huge difference when we work together. Won’t you help make this year a resounding success?

And let’s keep it going throughout the year, not just at Spring Clean Up time.
