Snowbound Books a wonderland of words

To the Journal editor:

Snowbound Books, putting it plainly, is a paradise through pages. They have everything you’ll ever want or ever need in the coziest shop in town. Every summer, I take great pleasure in riding my bike down to the wonderful shop and spending an hour (or more) browsing the beautiful shelves. They have everything from journals and compostable cards to noted national award-winning novels.

The service is extraordinary, everyone is always so willing to laugh, help, and, of course, talk about books. If they don’t have a specific book on hand, you can be certain to get it!

Though, truly, their collection is magnificent. It doesn’t matter if you already have a huge stack of books by your bedside, a minute in Snowbound and you’ll double it in size. It’s a wonderland of words, a land of luxury found only in the comfort of classics.

Snowbound is also doing a fabulous job keeping everything clean and healthy — they are really setting the standards for Marquette businesses. That’s probably why there isn’t another equally terrific bookstore nearby! Really, I am so proud to have such a place in our hometown. I delight in shopping there, in talking there, and just visiting one of the wondrous stores that make our Marquette the city it is.

If you are not a reader, they will make you into one. If you are a reader, they will give you a year’s worth of books in a day. Every world you can imagine lingers in their book-covered walls, a treasure trove of literature that can take you fabulous places. Nothing can rival this bookishly beautiful place, because the personal kindness shown by everyone is incredible.

They will remember your name, give suggestions, and give you a good, hard laugh, every time you go. Between the hilarious (and very informative) newsletters, the best of books, and the wonderful staff, Snowbound is the most undisputedly perfect bookshop in the U.P.

Snowbound, 118 N. Third St., Marquette, is open weekdays 10-6 and Saturdays 10-5. They are closed Sundays. Call 906-228-4448 or visit snowboundbooks@gmail.com.
