Consistency needed

To the Journal editor:

Politicians are not particularly known for their consistencies of belief, but the latest controversy of corporations speaking out and making business choices based on Georgia’s new voting laws is especially enlightening.

While many have fought tooth and nail defending the Citizen’s United ruling, which gives corporate political donations the equivalent of First Amendment speech protection, conservatives are now decrying when those same corporations actually speak real words.

I would like to be able to say that I am appalled by the hypocrisy, but beyond my initial reaction to this latest mockery of democracy, it comes down to business as usual.

Hopefully, the American public can choose people of character whose actions we can trust to be in line with their values and get rid of those whose values change like Michigan’s weather in the spring, no matter what their ideology.

Respectfully yours,
