To the Journal editor:

I am writing this letter to compliment you on the fine article acknowledging the passing of our legendary Coach Stan Albeck. Your headline for the article was especially appropriate. Coach Albeck was “beloved” by many.

I had the pleasure of serving as the NMU basketball student manager for four years under Coach Albeck. He had a dynamic, outgoing personality, a great basketball mind and the ability to motivate young athletes to perform to their maximum ability.

I watched firsthand how he molded good and great individual players into championship teams. The four years I spent with him helped shape my life. His influence on my teaching and coaching career was immeasurable.

Thank you for giving Coach Albeck the recognition and tribute he deserved. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will never forget the positive impact he had on so many individuals, the Marquette and NMU communities and the entire Upper Peninsula.
