‘Congratulations, Wisconsin!’

To the Journal editor:

I just read in our local newspaper, the Marquette Mining Journal, (2/26/21) that the killers of wildlife – they’re referred to as hunters and trappers in the newspaper- managed in less than 72 hours to ” blow past” the state target of 119 dead wolves. Such an awesome achievement! One can only be stunned by such efficient mortality and wonder at the stealth, skill and commitment to task of the high powered rifle-armed “hunters! “Hunters“” who helped the state reach this goal of 178 fewer fanged, blood-thirsty canines roaming Wisconsin’s fabled woodlands and making it all the safer for the righteous claimants of terrestrial dominion to occupy their dominated territory! It is, after all, only fitting that these magnificent, highly intelligent, exquisitely adapted wild creatures be managed by man for his convenience and not theirs.

This beast, which for centuries has been pilloried, poisoned, persecuted(and only in the late 20th century protected by the bleeding-heart conservationists among us when it’s numbers fell to near extinction levels!) cannot be al lowed to reclaim more than a minuscule quantum of its original domain!

Oh no, It must be culled and what better way than to allow those who enjoy killing fellow creatures for killing’s sake(who, after all, eats wolf meat and who needs fur today?) have a little “fun”.

Thanks Wisconsin for your awesome leadership in this mortal enterprise! Now we, in Michigan, have your splendid example to follow! We can proceed , fall in line behind you and hope for similar success in our own, soon to be legalized slaughter! To borrow a phrase from that popular Jennifer Lawrence movie trilogy of a few years ago about a hunt for sport in a dystopian America, “let the games begin!”
