To the Journal editor:

U.S. Rep. (Jack) Bergman, we cannot begin to express our disgust with your actions in (recent) weeks. We both worked for the DoD in the Intelligence Community for 30 years and were always proud to serve the brave men and women in our military.

The fact that you are ex-military makes your two votes with regard to the legitimacy of the election and the presidential impeachment even more despicable.

You should be ashamed of how you represented yourself. We are ashamed of how you represented us.

If the election was indeed illegitimate, as you seem to believe, you should step down immediately. Resign.

Further, to vote against the impeachment of a president that incited violence and death in our nation’s capitol is reprehensible. We both fear for Michigan’s First Congressional District if you feel you voted your conscience.

You are an embarrassment to the good people of northern Michigan.

Resign.
