Stop the insanity

To the Journal editor:

On Aug. 26, Mike Frustaglio criticized my letter to the editor of Aug. 12. He said I was against protesting. This is (untrue). Peaceful protests are sanctioned by the First Amendment to the Constitution.

In the first two paragraphs of my letter of Aug. 12, I inferred I was against violent protests. Violent protests are not permitted and the act is criminal. When the violent protesters burn the American flag, tear down statues, hurl rocks and bricks at law enforcement personnel with the intent to do great bodily harm, when Molotov cocktails are thrown with the intent to burn and destroy whatever it hits, police vehicles are torched and hundreds of squad cars are smashed with clubs, police stations are burned along with buses, banks and even private businesses are burned and looted.

This is not American behavior! Churches are defaced with graffiti and vandalized.

I concluded that these criminal acts are done by people who hate this country ….

Sept. 5 marked the 100th night of riots in Portland, Oregon. This beautiful city is being destroyed by terrorists! The main stream media (fake news) gives limited coverage to these events and the riots in many major cities.

On Sept. 25, my wife and I traveled to Kenosha, Wis., to see first- hand the damage that was done in a city where we lived for 11 years. The city was unrecognizable in places where buildings were burned.

Many buildings were boarded up to try to protect them from damage. A used car lot in the downtown area was completely torched with 50 vehicles demolished. Many of the older citizens in Kenosha were frightened that their neighborhoods would be the next to be fire bombed by these anarchists.

On Oct. 12 in Portland, Oregon statues of former Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln were knocked down and the actions were declared a riot by police.

The unrest in Portland is not over. When will this insanity end?
