District thankful for vote

To the Journal editor:

Negaunee Public Schools would like to thank the voters who supported our bond proposal in the recent election on Aug. 4. Our community has a rich tradition of recognizing the importance of a strong school system, and that tradition was reflected through the overwhelming vote in favor of the bond proposal.

We are excited to start planning for the various projects that will be completed with the funds generated from the proposal. The new windows, roof repairs, and pool area upgrades will make our buildings safer and more comfortable for everyone. The technology upgrades, converting our libraries to state of the art media centers, and classroom updates will place our students in an even better position to engage in their education.

The indoor practice facility and fencing upgrades will transform the Miner Stadium area to become a focal point of our community. The projects that will be possible because of your support will keep Negaunee Public Schools at the forefront of learning and offer amazing opportunities to our students and community members.

Our staff and students are fortunate to belong to a school district that has such loyal support from the Negaunee city, Negaunee Township and Richmond Township communities. Negaunee Public Schools has always been committed to excellence, and having the community stand behind this bond proposal has reinforced that commitment and strengthened the pride of the Negaunee Miners (by a vote of 1,662-876).
