Supports bond proposal

To the Journal editor:

Negaunee Public Schools holds the tradition of providing an exceptional educational experience for its students. As a student entering my freshman year of high school, I can vouch that the community support given to the district in the past has provided me with a solid learning foundation.

On Aug. 4, the residents of Negaunee have the opportunity to continue this tradition by voting “yes” on the Negaunee bond proposal. Part of the proposal includes the purchase of technology to enhance student learning.

Imagine yourself being in a school with state-of-the-art technology that can assist you in preparing for the future. Not only would it give students an immense opportunity to have a sense of preparation, but it would also aid teachers in learning engagement strategies.

In addition to enhancing our learning, the bond proposal would also allow for structure upgrades to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all. The improvements include roof repairs, renovations for the libraries, window replacements, an upgrade in the pool locker rooms, and a dehumidification system in the pool area.

One of my favorite parts of high school athletics is hearing the Negaunee Fight Song play as the players warm-up for their game. Currently, the marching band has limited indoor practicing areas. If the bond proposal is approved, the marching band would be able to practice inside the newly built field house on the south side of the football field.

As an athlete, I would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to train and practice inside during the cold winter months. You will see a new level of skill emerge as this indoor facility is used for a variety of sports.

Today I am asking all Negaunee voters to play a role in helping the school district by voting “yes” on the Negaunee bond proposal on your absentee ballot or at the voting polls on Aug. 4.

Thank You and Go Miners!
