Supporting ballot issue

To the Journal editor:

The official absent voter ballots were recently sent out to those who requested to vote in that manner.

In addition to important races in Marquette County, Negaunee (school district) residents will be asked to vote on a Bond Proposal Millage.

If the voters approve, all three Negaunee schools will be dramatically improved.

For Lakeview Elementary that includes roof repair, an additional classroom, purchase of 500 Chromebook computers, modernization of 31 classrooms and upgrades throughout. For the Middle School, library renovation with an emphasis on technology, replacement of 261 windows with blind installation, roof repair and technology upgrades with interactive touchscreens for each classroom.

For the High School, library renovation, technology upgrades in each classroom, boiler replacement, roof repair and pool area upgrades.

Also, the passage of the bond proposal would provide for the construction of an indoor practice facility with year-round opportunities: NHS Marching Band and football practices as well as spring sports seasons — baseball, softball, track, golf, tennis, soccer, even pickleball. The facility would be available for community use.

Negaunee residents take Miner pride in the education reputation their community has produced through many years. As proud parents, and now grandparents, of the Negaunee School District, we will vote yes!
