‘Simple’ solution for mask controversy
To the Journal editor:
Store owners are having a problem enforcing the rule that requires face coverings (masks) when in their stores. I have a rather simple solution.
For years store owners have displayed signs saying “SO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE.”
This has worked well. Why not just add to that sign so it says, “NO FACE COVERING, NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE”?
Then instruct their employees to politely inforce the rules, i.e., “I am sorry but you’ll have to go out and put on a shirt before shopping here” or “I am sorry, but you’ll have to go out and get a face covering before shopping here.” If they don’t comply, just refuse them service.
Come on, folks. We need to protect ourselves and our friends and fellow shoppers.
