Goofus is missed

To the Journal editor:

In memory of Alan Wayne Ammesmaki, born Jan. 14, 1952 and died on March 27, 2018.

Alan’s nickname was Goofus. He graduated from Negaunee High School in 1969. Goofus was a great buddy to everybody. Goofus loved playing his one-man band, the polkacello, and his kazoo for everyone.

He was at Michigan State University from 1969 to 1974. Goofus was a big fan of Negaunee Miners sports and a big fan of Northern Michigan University Wildcats, especially hockey. Everybody in Negaunee misses Goofus’s voice at Negaunee Miners sports events.

Goofus has two brothers, Ken Maki and Ralph Maki and one sister, Karen Ammesmaki Couture. He has nephews RJ Maki Jr., Shawn Maki, Ryan Maki and Ethan Couture and nieces Megan Couture and Paige Couture.

We miss our buddy Goofus. Everyone from Negaunee misses Goofus. He was the No. 1 fan of Negaunee and NMU sports.
