Bond prop supported

To the Journal editor:

Have you ever complained about parking when attending a program at the Negaunee Public Schools? Replace the negative thought with a positive one. The full parking lots and cars lining the streets reflect the tremendous support and pride our community has for its schools.

I ask you to join me in voting yes for the Negaunee Public Schools bond proposal on Tuesday, Aug. 4. This bond would provide the funding resources for upgrades in all three schools and for the construction of a diverse indoor practice facility.

The upgrades in the three schools would enhance the learning environment while saving money in the future because of increased energy efficiency. Some classrooms have not been renovated since 1951!

Having a new indoor practice facility would support a variety of activities in an area that is short on practice space and subject to extreme weather. Community use for this facility may include baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, and pickleball.

The schools are the backbone for our community. Remember the African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” and support the Negaunee Public Schools on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
