Bond prop deserves support

To the Journal editor:

When I think of a way of life in Negaunee, I can’t think of it without using the word tradition. The two words can be used to define each other.

Last month, an awesome traditional event took place on a beautiful sunny day on the Negaunee Miners football field. The venue was changed but the pride, love and dedication that it took to give our 2020 high school seniors their traditional, well-deserved graduation day never wavered.

The commitment from the community members, staff and faculty was another example of the tradition of excellence in education in Negaunee. The pandemic has changed so much of our normal way of life even here in the Upper Peninsula. I was so glad that the efforts of so many made it possible for everyone to still virtually attend the milestone day for these seniors.

With diplomas in hand they can now go forward in the world and believe that there are no challenges that they cannot meet and overcome. With their combination of knowledge, perseverance, and Miner traits they will continue the Miner traditions no matter where they land.

I hope that on Tuesday, Aug. 4 that you will join with me in the tradition of supporting the Negaunee school board and students by voting yes for the school bond proposal. Your yes vote will keep the district moving forward in meeting the challenges of the future in technology and education. Please vote yes, continue to show the pride of being a Miner in the past, present and future.

Good luck and best wishes to the graduates of 2020, you are all truly a one-of-a-kind class.
