Say ‘how are you’ like you mean it

To the Journal editor:

Today I was forced to talk to tech support on Amazon because my Kindle died. She helped me and completely solved my problem.

When I was thanking her and wishing her good health, I realized that I had no idea where she was, whether it be China, the Philippines, Guatemala, or the U.S., the phrase we’ve been hearing, “we’re all in this together”, became real to me.

No matter where we are in the world, we are fighting a common enemy.

Someday, when we see a friend or an acquaintance, when we ask them how they are, we’ll really want to know.

After all this is over, let’s all try to really mean it when we say, “how are you?”
