Event was memorable

To the Journal editor:

Team Poop on Cancer hit the pavement at the Trenary Outhouse Race for the sixth year on Feb. 29, bringing awareness and a fun, memorable theme to the event!

Our theme “Get Your Puppies Checked!” was a family friendly way to remind ladies young and old to ensure they do their self-exams and get their mammograms (as recommended by your doctor).

We’d like to extend our thanks to team members: Dave and Carol Mills, Teresa Bernier Pepin, Shaun and Jill Puzio, Marie Bernier, Verna and John Meharg and to all of the people who so generously supported our efforts this year!

Thanks also to Brian at 906 Tees for his creative T-shirt design, quality T-shirts and for donating some T-shirts for the fundraising!

We raised over $2,000 through donations made for our homemade brownies, cookies, beer koozies, T-shirts and other items, bringing our six year total to over $10,000! The monies go to Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula (HHUP), who run Beacon House, Coffee for a Cause, Gift Well and the Wig Salon.

The Wig Salon offers free wigs and other head coverings to patients who have lost their hair due to medical conditions or treatment.
