Vote your conscience

To the Journal editor:

I read Robert Lambert’s Letter to the Editor on Dec. 10 with interest and confusion.

We agree on some key points: The “super rich” should “pay their share” and that our government would likely benefit from having some “blue collars” in Washington.

Mr. Lambert praises President Trump. He says he is a business man and not a career politician, which is true. But he is most certainly not blue collar and is super rich, so it is unclear why Mr. Lambert is praising him.

In addition, President Trump has bragged about not paying taxes as “being smart.” Given that statement (and a lack of transparency about his tax returns), it appears the president is proudly doing his best not to pay his share, again, in opposition to Mr. Lambert’s stated ideals.

Lastly, the changes to the tax code under his administration have done the exact opposite of what Mr. Lambert desires. It has allowed the “super rich” to keep more and pay less.

So, Mr. Lambert, I hope you campaign hard and vote this coming election for someone who matches your ideals, someone who is not “super rich” and is proudly paying “their share,” with the tax documentation to prove it.
