Redmen/Redettes not offensive
To the Journal editor:
People may be offended by the Redmen-Redettes nickname. But such people are offended by the fact that the nicknames do not refer to Native Americans, and did not originate from such a reference.
Such offense is, bluntly, absurd, and so should be completely disregarded. We do not have to act just because some people are offended when their offense is totally lacking in sense and logic to the extent of being practically completely arbitrary, and virtually random. Such concerns are similar to lunacy stretched nearly to the breaking point.
They should be given the consideration they deserve, which is none.
