Trump craves attention

To the Journal editor:

What is the best way to deal with a 3rd grade playground bully, who talks like a drunk on a bar stool, screaming at the TV? You can either ignore him or snap a number 9 up along side his right ear. For those of you who think I am talking about something measured in millimeters, 9 is my shoe size. Since either of the “9” options will land a person behind bars for an unacceptable amount of time, I guess ignoring him would be best.

That’s a strategy that both Democrats and the media really should adopt. What is the one thing that the most despicable excuse for a human being to ever occupy the oval office craves? Attention, being front page every day. Negative attention is better than no attention at all.

It was the been House oversight committee chair Elijah Cummings and the city of Baltimore. It was four freshman female representatives, all people of color. But, he has clearly demonstrated that he will eat his own just as lustfully, depending on what they do or say about him. Just as unacceptable are his daily attacks on our free press. His use of divisive branding of those he disagrees with is completely unacceptable. He has demonstrated that there is simply no lack of character or free speech low water mark that he can’t slither under.

Unfortunately, everything this bully does has consequences. Look no further than our warming planet or the Gulf of Hormuz. He withdrew the US from the multi-nation agreements dealing with climate change and to get Iran to shut down its nuclear enrichment program, not because they were bad deals. But, because he could not tolerate the idea that a person of color could ever occupy the oval office.

This anti-democracy bully has clearly demonstrated that he has only one strategy as leader of the free world-that is to appeal to our worst angels. America is never stronger than when America is united. Unfortunately, that’s just not how this classic megalomaniac sees it.

Everything he says or tweets is directed toward his base. He clearly demonstrates that he is not the president of all Americans. So, why treat him as such. The really sad part is that he despises the very existence of those that he is appealing to. The only thing he needs from them is their vote.
