Time to believe climate change

To the Journal editor:

In regards to the The Mining Journal editorial of Sunday, Aug. 11, excellent work. It’s time that people wake up to the reality of climate change.

Even if one were not completely convinced whether it exists or not, how could one not err on the side of its existence. Our children and grandchildren depend on us.

Each individual can and must start immediately to make the necessary changes to turn climate change around. Our very food supply and health is in jeopardy. We must make serious changes to our food production.

Each time you raise your fork to your mouth you are making a choice to either be a part of the solution or a part of the problem.

On an individual basis, eating plant-based is certainly the largest step you can take toward the solution. Please understand that each individual can make a difference.

Participating in our democracy would be the next step I would encourage everyone to take.

Please call 273-2227 and urge U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, to co-sponsor H.R.763 to reduce emission from fossil fuels (EnergyInnovationAct.org).

After that bill becomes law, the focus will shift to the next biggest piece of the puzzle: A bill to incentivize carbon sequestration through regenerative land management and farming.
