Camp was successful

To the Journal editor:

Camp New Day U.P. had an awesome camp this year! Our 26 campers were exceptional and came from across the Upper Peninsula. Our counselors, other staff, board members and volunteers were also fantastic and a great time was had by all. This was our 18th year and the best camp yet! There are many people and organizations that contributed to this success through donations of time, money, food, and other support. We would like to thank them all:

Community Foundation of Marquette County, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Church of the Transfiguration, Ironwood, Gwinn Lions Club, Ishpeming Pioneer Kiwanis, Ishpeming Kiwanis Club, Marquette Kiwanis, Rotary of Ishpeming, Trinity Lutheran, Mackinac Island, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Emanuel Lutheran, Skandia, Eastwood Nursing Center, Econo Foods, Farmer Q’s, Huron Mountain Bakery and anonymous individuals.

Thank you to the following groups who contributed $1,000 or more to CNDUP this year: Marquette Breakfast Rotary, The Frazier Fund, The Phyllis and Max Reynolds Foundation, Rotary Club of Marquette, Ray and Peg Hirvonen Charitable Foundation and the Community Foundation for Delta County.

The board members of Camp New Day U.P. gratefully thank all of the above for their contributions to our summer camp program. We are very thankful to all who volunteered their time to transport the children to and from camp, and a special thank you to our volunteers who were at camp. Parents tell us every year that if it weren’t for CNDUP, their children would not be able to go to a summer camp.

Without your community support there would be no Camp New Day U.P.

Sincerely,

CAMP NEW DAY U.P. BOARD MEMBERS:

Ann Smith, Carol Romback, Gene Champagne, Carla Champagne, Janet Joswiak, Meghan Bazinette, Cara Monks and Alex Hutchins
