Community support evident

To the Journal editor:

It is so rewarding to see the local community out at the services on Memorial Day. This was so evident across our entire patriotic county and country. I thank the following for assisting with the services at Park and Holy Cross cemeteries in Marquette: Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 380, VFW, DAV, American Legion Post 44 and Auxiliary, Boy/Girl Scouts, Marquette Elks Ritual Team, Steve Krook (Taps bugler), Jill Weingarten (singer Post 44) and retired LTC Wil Weycker who gave the Memorial Day speech.

As our veteran members age, our membership numbers decline. If you have served this great country, please consider joining a veterans group. The American Legion, VFW, DAV and other veteran groups support our veterans past and present, our youth and community programs.

Thanks again,

American Legion Post 44
