U.S. Rep Bergman must support bill

To the Journal editor:

In a recent letter to the editor, Ronald Marshall made a strong pitch for supporting action on climate change. He focused on how the private sector in the U.S. can compete with China in the race to develop and produce electric cars.

Mr. Marshall rightly states that there is currently a bill in Congress that will help facilitate that outcome — improved air quality and a market-based explosion in new jobs.

And while he correctly stated that this bill would place a fee on carbon and return that fee to households, he incorrectly referred to it as H.B. 463.

The bill he was referring to is actually H.R. 763, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, a bipartisan, market-based approach to fighting climate change that now has 32 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives.

The nonpartisan Citizens Climate Lobby has information about the specifics of this bill at the following location: https://citizensclimatelobby.org/energy-innovation-and-carbon-dividend-act/

If you would like to see congressional action on H.R. 763: the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, I urge you to contact our congressman, Jack Bergman, and encourage him to support it by becoming a co-sponsor.
