Party differences cited

To the Journal editor:

It’s a lie (period) that “one side is for allowing infanticide.”Not true. Third trimester abortions are very rare and done only for extreme medical emergencies. If a woman is in her third trimester, odds are she wants the baby and only because the fetus has become unviable or her own life is in danger is an abortion considered.

Some Democrats are suggesting we go back to a higher marginal tax rate (like we used to have) on earnings over a certain amount. Hardly socialism.

“This group” is not pushing to ban automobiles, airplanes or power generation. This group is saying that we can push for cleaner alternatives to alleviate the pollution of carbon based fuels. Carbon based fuels are a finite resource and sooner or later we will run out of them.Sooner or later we will have to change. Better sooner than later.

“This group” is not for open borders. This group is for sensible border security, something a “big beautiful wall” is not.

Medicare for all is not stealing seniors health care. It would be providing the same health care to all.

“This other group” is still around. We believe in the sanctity of life just not that we have the right to make the decision for others based on our religious beliefs. That’s why we call it Pro choice not pro abortion.

We believe that the taxes we pay provide the public services we as a nation need and deserve. Some call us the tax and spend party. That may be true. We believe that we should at least try to earn enough income (taxes) to pay our way, unlike the other side, which I call the “borrow and spend, spend, spend” party.

The party which always tries to cut taxes (on the rich and corporations) but never significantly cuts spending. Visit the U.S. Treasury Department site in regards deficit and debt.

This other group which is still around is still for a strong national defense. Like I said earlier we are for sensible spending not just on defense but in all of our national agencies. Public services are the ‘goods’ we buy with our taxes, you get what you pay for.
