Name for shooting range proposed
To the Journal editor:
Since it appears the DNR shooting range has been approved and will be constructed in the near future at Sands Township, I would suggest the completed facility be dedicated in memory of former DNR officers Emil Skoglund and Arvid Erickson.
Skoglund and Erickson were murdered by a game violator in the Sands Plains area in 1926 who then weighted their bodies down and dumped them in the Marquette harbor at Spears Dock.
It took several weeks before authorities arrested Roy Nunn who confessed to the crime and location of the murdered DNR officers. Nunn died at the Marquette Branch Prison in 1948.
