Letters to the editor

Give thanks for

what you have

To the Journal editor:

The weather has been in the news a lot. A while back, we had an ice storm and recently there has been a lot of snow plus high winds that can knock power out as the ice storm did.

In this day and age, we depend very much on electric power. If it went out for a long period of time, it would be that most would have heat, let alone nights and all the other benefits we have with electric power.

So with that said, I am writing in support of the great work of those employed by the Marquette Board of Light and Power who are out in adverse conditions to get the power back on. I hope most people would take time to realize the work they do.

From me, thanks very much.

Also, many others who keep our roads plowed, the water running, and also the police and fire departments and others who are there when called.

Serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, I was in search and rescue and was called to save people in trouble. Thanks to my fellow Coast Guard men and women who are now serving here in Marquette and all over the U.S. So try to remember and be thankful for those who serve to keep the lights on, protect us from those who may harm us and respond to fires and the many other dangers we face in life.

Without them, think how it would be. Try not to complain, but give thanks for many blessings we have in our city of Marquette, the dedicated workers who keep our city a good place to live.
