Bible is truth

To the Journal editor:

In response to Pastor Geier’s letter, where does Christianity stand if we don’t believe what is in the Bible? If the Bible is stories and myths then our belief would be based on a lie.

The Bible warns that Satan is a deceiver, the Father of lies, (John 8:44). The debate over Creation and Evolution, undermines the foundation of Christianity. If there were death and decay before man came into existence, why did Jesus have to come to pay the price for our sin? (For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus or Lord. Romans 6:23). Genesis 1:1 says “In the beginning God…”. Genesis is the foundation for the entire Bible.

God doesn’t give us all the details, He asks us to have faith in Him. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:1-3.

The Bible is referred to as God’s Written Word; is like a Love Letter to His Bride. Jesus is the Word in human form. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:1-3. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17. Then Jesus gave His life to pay for our sins, and defeated death by His Resurrection and confirms it with more than 500 eyewitnesses, (take that to a Court of Law).

Yes, the Bible contains poetic imagery, and uses metaphors, but it doesn’t contain myths. Archeologists and other scientists are constantly making discoveries that substantiate the Biblical claims. “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6.
