Classic Cars was resounding success

To the Mining Journal editor:

To the Marquette Community — On behalf of Women’s Center clients, staff and board of directors, I want to thank the more than 75 businesses and individuals who came together to support the second annual Classic Cars on Third Street in memory of Jessica Drummond by either a sponsorship, volunteering or donating items.

All proceeds from the car show are donated to the Women’s Center for its operations and its emergency shelter, Harbor House.

It was delightful to see so many community residents and out of town guests stroll the five blocks of Third Street closed for the show.

The car show is a fun, family event and it benefits not just the Women’s Center, but all the businesses in the local area. Thank you also to the Marquette Downtown Development Authority for promoting the event as well as providing assistance.

Jessica’s parents, Tammy and Bill Dupras, organize the event and are dedicated to preserving her memory by helping others get the necessary services through our agency so that another life is not taken by domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects many sorts of people, across all demographics. It does not discriminate.

Thank you to our wonderful community of supporters!

Sincerely.
