Camp New Day was tremendous success

To the Journal editor:

Thank you to all who helped Camp New Day U.P. have a great 2018 camp.

We had 22 exceptional campers from across the Upper Peninsula, the weather was good, the counselors were very good and good time was had by all. This was our seventeenth year and the board members all agree that it was a very successful camp.

There are many people and organizations that contributed to the success through donations of time, money, food, and other support, and we would like to thank them all.

(They include:) Keweenaw Bay Indian Community; St Ignace Area Community Foundation; Marquette West Rotary; Church of the Transfiguration, Ironwood; Trinity Episcopal Church of Mackinac Island; Grace Episcopal Church of Menominee; Tadych’s Econo Foods; Farmer Q’s; Huron Man Bakery; and anonymous individuals.

Thank you to the following groups who contributed $1,000 or more to CNDUP this year: Marquette Breakfast Rotary; The Frazier Fund; The Phyllis and Max Reynolds Foundation; Rotary Club of Marquette; Ray and Peg Hirvonen Charitable Foundation; Marinette & Menominee Area Community Foundation; Community Foundation of Marquette County; and the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula.

The board members of Camp New Day U.P. gratefully thank all of the above for their contributions to our summer camp program. We are very thankful to all who volunteered their time to transport the children to and from camp.

Parents tell us every year that if it weren’t for CNDUP, their children would not be able to go to a summer camp. Without your community support there would be no Camp New Day U.P.

Sincerely,

Camp New Day U.P. board members

Ann Smith, Mary Sullivan, Carol Romback, Gene Champagne, Carla Champagne, Janet Joswiak, Meghan Bazinette
