To the Journal editor:

With our sixth annual “Dancing with our Stars Marquette County Style” fundraiser over for another tremendous season, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone in this community and beyond for making this popular event what it is today.

First, the dance stars, dance pros, hosts, judges, stage directors, cast members, crew members and volunteers over the last six years have given thousands of hours of their time commitment, passion and drive to make this event the hot ticket it has become. They are all truly incredible people and should be so proud of themselves for all their accomplishments.

Second, our community sponsors and in-kind cover all the costs for the event so that every single penny raised can go to support hospice patients and their families. These sponsors, individuals, organizations and businesses have donated their time, talent, supplies and money to support hospice in Marquette County.

Third, the fantastic work of the non-profit U.P. Hospice Foundation Board of Directors. This group has the role of being fiscally prudent while meeting their mission of giving every U.P. Home Health & Hospice patient receiving hospice services everything possible to aid in their comfort and peace as they move through their journey.

And last, but not least, to you, the members of this community. We greatly appreciate your support and we want to be sure you know how important your commitment is to the overall success of this event.  You donate your time and money, attend fundraisers, lend support and come to watch with enthusiasm, the event at the theatre. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your generosity!

We have been overwhelmed by this community’s willingness to lend helping hands and “feet” through this entire journey. Without all of you, this event would not be possible and for that, we are forever grateful. We are all very blessed to live in a community that is so gracious and generous and truly cares about improving the lives of the people who live here.
