Climate change is real

To the Journal editor:

The scientific consensus is that if we do not dramatically reduce carbon pollution we will experience catastrophic climate change. (I believe) the majority of Americans want to see a solution.

A federal Carbon Fee and Dividend would put a price on carbon pollution and return the revenue to all households equally.

This would raise the price on fossil fuels to give renewables a jump start, while giving families a monthly check. Two-thirds of these families would break even or end up with money left over.

REMI, a third-party nonpartisan certifier (think Congressional Budget Office), found that a Carbon Fee and Dividend would create over 2.8 million jobs in the next 20 years and raise the GDP $1.375 trillion.

Lives saved due to cleaner air would be 227,000. The Citizen’s Climate Lobby is pushing Congress to enact Carbon Fee and Dividend, but we need everyone’s help.
