Check Bergman’s voting record

To the Journal editor:

We can appreciate that U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, supported the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, but generally speaking, this man does not appear to care much about our environment.

Rather than protecting, he is opening up our lands to big business pollution. Here are a few of his anti-environment votes:

House Resolution 26 severely limits the ability of the federal government to pass regulations that protect the environment and our health.

House Joint Resolution 38 allows big energy companies to dump their waste into US streams.

H.R. 1431 makes it easier for fossil fuel companies to influence the governmental scientific review process.

H.R. 1430 prevents government scientists from reporting to the public about issues that effect the environment.

H.R. 2004 prohibits federal agencies from informing the public about proposed regulations. This gives the public less power (and corporate polluters more power) to influence the regulatory process.

You are not helpless to stop him and his (associates). He’s up for re-election this fall. To see more about his voting record, go to www.govtrack.us.
