Health center celebrates

To the Journal editor:

The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center celebrated the 50th anniversary of health centers in the United States with National Health Center Week Aug. 9-15. Across the country, health centers save the U.S. health care system more than $24 billion every year in reduced overall costs from preventable hospitalization, avoidable emergency room visits and effective patient care.

We are grateful for the support of our NHCS sponsors and donors, which helped make our celebration a success. Thank you to our leadership sponsors, Upper Peninsula Health Plan and WJMN-TV, for their generous support. Thank you also to Snyder Drugs, Great Lakes Recovery Centers Inc., Larry’s Family Foods of Gwinn, Pat’s Foods – IGA, McDonald’s of Houghton, Walmart of Houghton, Christina Anderson and the Salvation Army of Hancock for additional sponsorships and donations for National Health Center Week.
