Beware Walker
To the Journal editor:
A brief item in the Sports section of the Mining Journal on May 27 mentioned: “… following a closed-door meeting in Gov. Scott Walker’s Capitol conference room they (Milwaukee leaders and the President of the Milwaukee Bucks) were optimistic that a deal (to pay for a new $500 million arena for the Milwaukee Bucks) can be reached by Friday.”
It seems that in Gov. Walker’s eyes, a new stadium is more valuable to the community than the world-class University of Wisconsin whose budget has been slashed and workers in the public sector whose rights to organize have been revoked by the Walker administration.
I can’t agree with his priorities, and am concerned that he would actually be considered a viable presidential candidate.
