To the Journal editor:

Three years ago, Marquette Harbor Cruises embarked on a business venture here with hopes of a long term presence in Marquette’s harbor community.

Regrettably, the volume of tourist traffic we hoped to find has not been realized, nor do our projections suggest significant enough growth, in the short term, for a continued presence.

The lsle Royale Queen III will operate in the Straits of Mackinac area for this coming season. We do not rule out a return to Marquette’s downtown harbor in the future.

I want to personally thank our city officials, the business community and the residents of Marquette County and surrounding communities for their significant support.

Despite our decision to move on, the generous support and goodwill that was shown us will be remembered.
