To the Journal editor:

My grandfather, Michael Lenten, is a man of great humbleness and love for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and his family. Michael Lenten served in Vietnam and fathered and raised children in Negaunee.

When I was born in 2001, my grandfather babysat me almost everyday until my parents got home. Me and my grandfather; Michael Lenten were basically best friends from the start.

When I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2004, I never realized that my grandfather who lived 368 miles away could have such a love for me so far away. We still are close and I visit my grandfather once a week.

My grandfather who isn’t only a veteran but, a former school board member and prison guard. I’m encouraging my grandfather Michael Lenten to run for Negaunee City Council. Negaunee you have never seen a man so interested and in love with Negaunee.

I encourage you to vote for Michael Lenten if he does decide to run because Michael Lenten will never turn his back on the city he loves Negaunee.
