Experts needed

To the Journal editor:

As a senior citizen and a sportsman all my life, I have never seen such a rundown Upper Peninsula for hunting. I spend days in the woods never see deer, rabbits, any game animals. A few squirrels.

The only thing left are predators and my does the Michigan Department of Natural Resources protect them. They had a survey years ago the results coyotes and wolves were the worst predators on deer.

Yet they protect the wolves and coyotes. Marquette County our largest county they don’t have but one biologist and it appears his only interest is wolves.

He has become so obsessed with these predators he blames all the damage they do on the hunters and farmers not on himself for letting them get out of control.

We are way beyond the capacity of these animals that’s why they slaughter our domestic animals. Let’s not wait until its our kids or any human. Our DNR is supposed to protect our people and our animals.

We the hunters pay their wages. Give us a break. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you like you’re doing. Let’s get a deer biologist in Marquette County plus a fish biologist like we once had. Let’s do this with the big raise on our license fees.
