Letter finds favor
To the Journal editor:
A letter was published yesterday detailing the author’s opinions regarding the Obama presidency.
In this letter, he cites the Republican “strategy that would destroy the Obama presidency with complete disregard to what it would do to the U. S economy and average U. S. citizen.” He further states that there have been more Senate filibusters than at any other time, and that the legislature has failed to pass jobs bills, stimulus bills, and infrastructure improvement bills.
The author concludes by observing that, during the Obama presidency, we have extricated ourselves from Iraq, drawn down our forces in Afghanistan and asked the legislature’s “blessing” prior to engaging in Syria.
From all this he concludes that Obama has done a good job, preferable to the final years of the Bush administration (2007-8) during which time the economy was plunged into major recession and U.S. soldiers were being attacked at the highest level ever. (New York Times, August 8, 2007).
He ends with a prayer for those who will “blindly vote Republican”.
I have two words for the author: “Amen, brother”.”
