Bill didn’t help vet

To the Journal editor:

Personnel are applauding the recent passage of the Veterans Care Act. However, what does it actually do for the veteran? Not much!

If you look closely at parts of the act, there are certain portions that have not been really changed.

1. Long wait periods: Who determines the definition of the word long – the VA.

2. If a referral is given to the veteran for an appointment to a civil care giver, what action must be taken? The veteran has to call the VA for this appointment.

3. Once the vet is assigned the care giver, that individual must contact the VA for permisssion to treat the veteran before he arrives for his scheduled appointment.

Helping the veteran, I don’t think, is what the powers that be really intended.
