To the Journal editor:

For Mr. Sadak of Munising (Letter to the Editor on Monday) and others who often reference the Constitution, I cite the first Amendment in its entirety:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Just as Mr. Sadak exercised his freedom of speech, Mining Journal Staff Writer Jackie Stark exercised her freedom of the press as a staff writer for the local newspaper.

Seven and a half million people in the United States have enrolled in the Affordable Care Act. Just as similar health care programs are successful in the United Kingdom or in Canada, there is the potential for the Affordable Care Act in the U.S. to provide health care for many, many people.

For individuals ages 19-64, who do not yet have health care, please see www.mibridges.michigan.gov.

There is also an article that may be of interest in The New York Times, on Monday, “Tax Preparers’ New Role: Health-Coverage Advisers.”

Peace.
