Program success

To the Journal editor:

The United Methodist Church has adopted a worldwide program to eradicate malaria.

As part of this program, Ishpeming Wesley and Negaunee Mitchell United Methodist churches recently hosted a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser.

It was a great success, with more than $1,500 being raised.

Thanks to the generosity of area businesses, the entire amount is going to the Imagine No Malaria campaign.

We are grateful to Coca-Cola, Econo Foods and Wal-Mart of Marquette, Jubilee Foods of Ishpeming, and SuperOne Foods and Holiday Stationstore of Negaunee for their donations of food, and to Globe Printing for the printing of posters and tickets.

We also thank True North Credit Union and Peninsula Bank, Jubilee Branch, Ishpeming, and S.I.R. Credit Union and Range Bank, Negaunee, for acting as ticket outlets.

Without the help of all these businesses, we could not have been so successful. Our area is truly blessed to have so many caring business people.

And of course, to all our customers, for your support of our efforts, a big thank you.
