NMU’s Fall Fest coming up

By Journal Editorial Board 2 min read

One of the really nice activities open to Northern Michigan University students each year is happening Monday at the Northern Center lawn on campus.

Fall Fest is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. It's a can’t-miss opportunity for students to learn more about local businesses and non-profits, NMU departments and student organizations.

While Fall Fest is designed to literally have something for everyone, we'd especially recommend attendance for new NMU students, as it provides a golden opportunity to find out what's happening on campus and off, what might a good fit for someone's interest range and schedule and, simply put, where to go to find information on anything NMU-related.

It's a great way for campus organizations - running the spectrum from academic groups like the Elementary Education Math Club to the North Wind student newspaper - to get a chance to look for recruits.

We also think Fall Fest is a perfect opportunity for NMU students to get involved in volunteerism, both on and off campus, at the very beginning of the school year.

We're sure that once NMU students learn about opportunities to get productively involved in campus and town life, they'll take advantage of them.

The weather Monday is expected to be clear (at least as of this writing) and the temperatures moderate, a prime opportunity to take in Fall Fest, kick off a year full of learning and volunteering. NMU students are assets to our community. We're glad to have them back.

Starting at /week.
