The Mining Journal's annual Cheer Club, a community toy and gift drive to give to those in need, is in full swing and Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul officials tell us so much more is needed.
Community members, students from Northern Michigan University and anyone who wishes to give, are invited to donate toys at designated drop-off locations.
And it seems this year, items for teenagers are especially needed so we'd ask prospective donors to please keep that fact in mind as they consider what might be an appropriate gift.
Toys will then be collected by the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul Marquette and distributed to area children.
St. Vincents, it should be noted, has already had its gift giveaway for the current holiday season.
Simply put, the Cheer Club helps to put presents under the trees of families in need.
The season of giving is upon us.
