Upcoming BOW events sure to test participants

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources operates a program designed to give women 18 years and older an opportunity improve their outdoors skills in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere.

It’s called Becoming an Outdoors Woman and the traditional winter BOW weekend workshop will be held at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay on Feb. 25-27.

We’ve supported the agency in its BOW efforts before as we believe its an outstanding program.

In addition, the DNR now has scheduled several other related events we’d like to call attention to.

They are:

≤ Introduction to Indoor Wall Climbing, noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 12, Northern Michigan University. Participants will meet at the NMU Climbing Wall located in the Physical Education and Instructional Facility.

≤ Sugarloaf Sunrise Snowshoe, Sugarloaf Mountain, 6:20 a.m. Feb. 19. Participants will meet at the trailhead about 5 miles north of Marquette, and must have a Recreation Passport or Michigan State Day Pass to park.

≤ Do-It-Yourself Trail Snacks, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 20, Marquette. In this class, participants can expect to enjoy at least three homemade trail snacks.

All of these programs are worth considering. Want more info? Check out https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/
