Ending year on strong note most important

We’ve done it — there are only three days left of 2020, and it is surely a year that will not be missed.

However, it is important to end the year on a strong note, and that means being smart about celebrating the new year and putting this dreadful year behind us.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, CDC.gov, there have been 1,502,350 COVID-19 cases reported in the last 7 days. The CDC wants people to remember that the safest way to celebrate winter holidays is at home with the people who live with you. Travel and gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase your chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.

They also gave some friendly reminders on how to stay safe during the holidays. We can all do our part by:

≤ Wearing a mask with two or more layers to stop the spread of COVID-19 to protect others and yourself

≤ Stay 6 feet away from others who do not live with you; Indoors or outdoors, you are more likely to get or spread COVID-19 when you are in close contact with others for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.

≤ Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated indoor spaces

≤ Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing and before eating.

The CDC also recommends alternative holiday celebrations, such as hosting a virtual celebration with friends and family or getting out to enjoy the winter weather. These are both great ways to mark the end of a very unusual year, and start off 2021 by being active and safe.
